Celebrating its second year, Alberta Beer Week kicks off with the first cask tapping at Calgary Oktoberfest (Sept 23/24), rolls out a host of amazing beer focused events over the course of the week, then celebrates another successful year at Edmonton Oktoberfest (Sept 30/Oct 1).
“We’re experiencing the fastest ever growth in the Alberta Craft Beer scene,” said Mark Kondrat, one of the managing partners of Alberta Beer Festivals. “There are so many new breweries in the province, it really is exciting. And one of the best things about it is just how much of a true community it is. The breweries that have been around a while are excited for the new breweries to come on line because it means the growth of craft beer in the province, which is good for everyone. We’ve always had one of the best international beer selections in the world, along with high quality craft breweries, but now we’re building up our craft brewing industry which is an amazing thing to see.”
Alberta Beer Week kicks off September 23rd and 24th at Calgary Oktoberfest. Throughout the week, there will be many beer themed events going on at breweries and beer focused restaurants across the province. The week wraps up at Edmonton Oktoberfest September 30th and October 1st. Both Oktoberfests are sampling events and will feature many fantastic Alberta breweries along with breweries from across Canada and around the world, amazing restaurants, authentic Oompah music and German dancers, and much more!
